Wine and scenery at every step: this is what the popular walk route will be like

The La Rioja Alavesa Wine Run 2025 will once again feature one of the most accessible and enjoyable options of the event: the 10-kilometer popular walk, which this year will traverse the paths, trails, and urban sections of Oyón-Oion, the new host town of the race.

It is a circular route designed for all audiences, where sport, wine, and landscape come together once more in a unique experience.

Along the route, participants will pass through vineyard areas, rural roads, and some streets of the town, in a setting that combines winemaking tradition with scenic richness. Three local wineries will join the route, offering tasting points integrated into the walk.

The first stop will be at the facilities of Fernández de Piérola, where a house wine will be offered. Later, at the passage through the Town Hall square, Bodegas Bujanda will participate with its wine offering. In the final section, participants will pass through the surroundings of Bodegas Valdemar, where a last tasting will also be offered.

Reaching the finish line will not mark the end of the plan. Starting at noon, a wine and gastronomy fair will take place in the area of the start and finish, open to the public and featuring a carefully selected range of local products. In total, eight wineries from Rioja Alavesa will present their wines, accompanied by a gastronomic offer including pintxos, cheeses, talos, pastries, and other artisanal products.

All registered participants—both in the walk and the races—will receive vouchers with their bibs, redeemable at the fair’s stands, included in the runner’s bag. The day will conclude with an awards ceremony and a live rock concert in the same fair area, ensuring a lively atmosphere until the very end.

The popular walk is thus established as one of the top options for those looking to enjoy Rioja Alavesa at a different pace, combining physical activity, the surroundings, and winemaking in a format designed to be shared.
